Holiday, Interrupted Is Cancelled

We regret to inform you that Trash Radio Manila and Bisikleta Productions' Holiday, Interrupted is literally interrupted, as we found ourselves losing our venue in the thick of the holidays. This is an announcement that is very difficult to make, but, as with any other unfortunate events, there must be a reason for this. Please accept our profound apologies. Merry Christmas to all.

Sha Na Boom Boom, Yeah!

We've got roughly a week to go before Christmas! Yay! Aside from the usual last-minute mad rush to the malls, holiday traffic, infinite Christmas parties, there are a good number of gigs lined up in the next few days, including our own Holiday, Interrupted which we put up with our friends at Bisikleta Productions, to be held on December 27 at Sausage Bar. Our siderail is literally teeming with posters of upcoming gigs, so do check them out.

We do have a fresh playlist to keep you company in the next few maddening days. Go Jimmy Go, ska purveyors out of Hawaii, sing a timely tune delivered in their usual breezy style. Hepcat follows next with "The Secret". Rumours are afloat that Hepcat are scheduled to do a reunion gig this month, but so far there is no official word on this, as far as I know.

This band is young but brash and confident, and for a very compelling reason. The Babylon Whackers are formed in 2007, the product of the union of The Filaments, Majah Tunder, and Babar Luck, with collaborations with members of The King Blues and Suicide Bid tossed in for a good measure. The Solution, on the other hand, does soul the way it should sound today: still with old-school vibe but contemporary, not at all dated. I could swear their song "Heavy Makes You Happy (Sha-Na-Boom-Boom)" sampled its horn riff from "Sweet Soul Revue" by another excellent band, Japan's Pizzicato Five.

The song "For Dancers Only" is written by everyone's favorite modfather, Paul Weller, but Ocean Colour Scene has been said to have offered to record the song. The English duo of Tyber and Si make up The Dualers, and they end the playlist with "Get Festive", which is exactly we are about to do. Be happy and be safe, you all. Merry Christmas!

GO JIMMY GO - "Merry Christmas, Baby"
HEPCAT - "The Secret"
THE BABYLON WHACKERS - "Sweet Reggae Music"
THE SOLUTION - "Heavy Makes You Happy (Sha-Na-Boom-Boom)"
OCEAN COLOUR SCENE - "For Dancers Only"
THE DUALERS - "Get Festive"

Indio I is Playing!

What a holiday treat this is. Now this is another gig that you ought to see. Indio I is doing a set this Saturday, December 20, 2008 over at Xaymaca at Timog Ave., Quezon City. Indio I will be playing back to back with the hardworking Coffee Break Island, who goes onstage first at around 11pm (our warped estimate :D).

Indio I has been out of the gig circuit for about 5 months, and we have written about this here. We are not even sure if these guys are now back for good and will resume gigging chores. But just come over at Xaymaca this Saturday, and find out how generous Santa is to all of us who've been BOTH naughty and nice. ;) See you at the gig.

Canon moment: Indio I at Xaymaca last July 2008.

Holiday, Interrupted.

Yeap. You read it right. We are interrupting the holidays to give you a public service announcement. We are trying to raise a good amount of canned goods, which we shall be sending to the inmates of the Cainta Municipal Jail, and we direly need your help.

Fr. Albert (not Ascona), of Our Lady of Fatima Parish Church at Greenpark Village, Cainta, has most graciously accepted our gesture of reaching out to our brethren.

Tama na muna ang ingay. We're bringing the volume down if only for one night this year to thank the One up there for the blessings that we have enjoyed this past year, to recollect the trials we have overcome, and to share all of these with you, with our loved ones, with our friends, and with our families.

As our collective appreciation of this past year, we invite you to help us raise enough goodies for our brothers and sisters currently locked up in jail.

Please come on the evening of the 27th of Decemeber as Trash Radio Manila, in cooperation with our good friends at Biskileta Productions, presents "Holiday, Interrupted.", our post-Christmas/pre-New Year bash and Thanksgiving party for what has been our (that's you included) 2008.

All the bands playing will be trimming down on the distortion so that we can all hear one another.

This early, we'd like to thank Spanky of Sausage Bar, for helping us out with this endeavor.

Punta kayo at magdala ng de lata. We hope to see you there.

Angels

BOOMBOXES and DICTIONARIES
(The Gaslight Anthem)

I took a drive today, and thought about you.
I thought about a friend who passed, and how much we just went through.
I saw the sun shine off the hood of a Cadillac,
I thought about some things I'd say, and some I would take back.
I thought about how fortunate I feel to be alive.

And if you're scared of the future tonight,
we'll just take it each hour one at a time.
It's a pretty good night for a drive,
so dry up those eyes, dry up those eyes.
Because the radio will still play loud,
songs that we heard as our guards came down.
Like in the summertime when we first met,
I'll never forget, don't you forget,
these nights are still ours.

I still love the way you smile.
I still love the ocean.
We should remember to slow down more often, and maybe we will.
Now there's a lotta good things coming our way right now.
A lot of bad had passed but we survived the breakdowns.
All is forgiven, water under bridges now.

And if you're scared of the future tonight,
we'll just take it each hour one at a time.
It's a pretty good night for a drive,
so dry up those eyes, dry up those eyes.
Because the radio will still play loud,
songs that we heard as our guards came down.
Like in the summertime when we first met,
I'll never forget, and don't you forget,
these nights are still ours.

And if you're scared of the future tonight,
we'll just take it each hour one at a time.
It's a pretty good night for a drive,
so dry up those eyes, dry up those eyes.
Because the radio will still play loud,
songs that we heard as our guards came down.
Like in the summertime when we first met,
I'll never forget, don't you forget,
these nights are still ours...
